Make A Difference Day in Washington, PA
Making a Difference in Four Trinity Townships
Trinity Leadership Committee's goal was to spread volunteerism throughout our school district and surrounding community. We also encouraged other schools in our county (via a National Honor Society invitation) to participate in a county-wide volunteerism day. Thirteen letters were sent to nearby schools.
The volunteerism project was launched in the four townships that make up the Trinity School District: Amwell, North Franklin, South Strabane and Canton.
A Goodwill Electronics Drive was held in two townships, South Strabane and North Franklin, and more than 5,000 pounds of recycled technology were collected. National Honor Society members volunteered for Trinity South Elementary School's Fall Family Fun Night in Amwell. We partnered with the parent and teacher faculty to help make this event a success and to help raise money to renovate the elementary school's playground.
We also had Trinity's music honor society play for the residents at Strabane Woods Assisted Living Center. The senior citizens who live there enjoyed the entertainment as well as the interaction with the students.
In Canton Township, at the Trinity North neighborhood elementary school, we hosted a technology seminar to help inexperienced computer users navigate the Internet and social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
